Nigerian National, 34, Apprehended in Balfour Drug Bust

 A 34-year-old Nigerian national was arrested for dealing in drugs in Balfour on 26 May 2026 at approximately 12:00 midday.

Members of the Crime Prevention Unit acted on information received about a foreign national allegedly selling drugs on a specific street in Balfour. Police proceeded to the identified address and found the suspect upon arrival. Officers requested permission to search the premises.

During a search of one of the bedrooms, police searched the bed and discovered drugs hidden underneath the mattress inside the bed base. The following items were seized:

  • 300 Mandrax tablets

  • One bag of Crystal Meth

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on 27 May 2026.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) continues to urge community members to work together with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or criminal activities. Community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime.
