Police Arrest Suspected Housebreaker, Firearm Recovered

A suspected housebreaker, believed to be responsible for a spate of burglaries and thefts terrorising the Modjadjiskloof community, was arrested in the early hours of Thursday, 27 November 2025.

The breakthrough came after police intelligence led a multidisciplinary operational team to the suspect’s residence in Makhuruperji Village, Mopani district. The team was immediately mobilised under the leadership of the Modjadjiskloof Acting Station Commander.

The operation comprised members from Modjadjiskloof Crime Prevention, Modjadjiskloof Detectives, Westfalia Security, and Canine Security. Upon arrival at the premises, the suspect was found asleep.

A subsequent search of the property led to the discovery of a 9mm Norinco Star firearm with a magazine. No live ammunition was found at the scene.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and is scheduled to appear before the Kgapane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 28 November 2025. He faces initial charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of suspected stolen property. Police indicate that further charges are likely as investigations into the ongoing housebreaking incidents continue.
