Man Sentenced to Double Life Imprisonment for Raping Minor

The Seshego Magistrate’s Court has handed down two life imprisonment terms to a 34-year-old man for the repeated rape of his then-girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter in 2021.

The convicted man was found guilty on two counts of rape for assaults that occurred on separate occasions at the victim’s mother’s residence in Seshego. The court heard that the accused, who was in a relationship with the victim’s mother at the time, attacked the child while she was preparing for school. He committed the acts while the victim’s mother was present in another part of the house and subsequently threatened the girl to prevent her from disclosing the abuse.

The case was broken after the brave young victim confided in a motivational speaker who had visited her school. The school official then helped ensure the matter was reported to the child’s mother, who immediately contacted the police.

A rape case was officially opened at the Seshego Police Station in November 2022. The investigation was later transferred to the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. Detective Sergeant Nation Teffo was assigned to the case, and his thorough investigation led to the swift arrest of the accused.

Following his court appearances, the man was found guilty and sentenced on 26 November 2025. The court imposed the maximum sentence of life imprisonment for each count of rape.

In addition to the life sentences, the court declared the accused unfit to possess a firearm and ordered that his details be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.
