The Free State High Court, sitting at the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court, has sentenced 25-year-old Isaac Sello Mokhemisa from Matwabeng near Senekal to 25 years of direct imprisonment for the murder of Tseleng Maria Molete (27), a resident of the same township.
The brutal incident occurred on 16 September 2024, when Mokhemisa repeatedly stabbed Molete with a knife. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but after the victim succumbed to her injuries on 18 September 2024—shortly after being discharged from the hospital—the charge was upgraded to murder.
On Friday, 01 August 2025, Mokhemisa was found guilty and handed the maximum sentence for the crime. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm under South African law.
The case was meticulously investigated by Detective Constable Lehlohonolo Motholo of the Senekal Detectives, whose efforts contributed to securing the conviction.
