NORTH WEST — A 32-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly scalding a victim with boiling water during an argument in Rosendal.
The violent incident occurred on the afternoon of Friday, 31 July 2026, in the Pholarpark area. According to preliminary reports, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Huhudi responded to a complaint regarding a dispute. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 32-year-old woman suffering from severe burn injuries to her upper body. The victim was in extreme pain and unable to speak.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were immediately contacted by the responding officers. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, where she was admitted for urgent medical treatment.
Following the scene investigation, Huhudi police arrested the 32-year-old suspect. She is expected to appear before the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 August 2026, to face a formal charge of attempted murder.
Addressing the severe nature of the crime, the Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Lt Gen Arthur Adams, strongly condemned the incident. He urged community members to resolve their disputes peacefully, emphasizing that no disagreement justifies an act of violence that places another person’s life at risk.
Furthermore, Lt Gen Adams commended the swift response of the police members on the scene. He reiterated that the police remain fully committed to ensuring that individuals who commit violent crimes are brought before the courts to face the full consequences of their actions.
