Ex-Boyfriend Arrested For Attempted Murder Following Stabbing

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, following a joint operation by the SAPS Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) and Welkom Crime Intelligence.

According to police reports, officers were summoned to a stabbing incident in Stilte Park, Meloding, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Upon arrival, authorities found a 21-year-old female lying on the ground bleeding from the right side of her neck. The victim told police that her ex-boyfriend had stabbed her before fleeing the scene. She was transported to a hospital, where she is currently receiving medical attention.

On Friday, 22 May 2026, the Welkom AGU received and acted on intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. The information led officers to Block 2, Kutlwanong location, where the suspect was found in possession of blood-stained shorts. The clothing has been booked into evidence for further investigation.

The suspect was arrested for attempted murder and is scheduled to appear soon in the Virginia Magistrate’s Court.
