A swift multi-disciplinary operation on Sunday morning led to the recovery of a high-value stolen vehicle and the arrest of two foreign nationals on the N1 highway.
The operation, which took place on 30 November 2025, was initiated following credible intelligence about a stolen vehicle traveling from Gauteng Province towards the Beitbridge border post via the N1 freeway.
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the collaborative effort, stating that the “swift response” of the teams was instrumental in the successful interception.
The operational team comprised the SAPS Limpopo Tracking Team, external law enforcement agencies, and private security firms. They were joined by Shadowsecure Security, Tshimollo Security and Investigation, as well as Tracker SA.
After receiving the alert, the team maintained observation and located a vehicle matching the description on the N1 north in Polokwane, near the Mall of the North. The vehicle was stopped and preliminary investigations confirmed it had been reported stolen from Pretoria Central.
Inside the vehicle were two adult male occupants: a 38-year-old Zimbabwean national and a 43-year-old Malawian national. Both were arrested on the spot.
The recovered vehicle is a Toyota Corolla Cross GR, valued at approximately R600,000.
A case of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle has been opened at the Polokwane police station. The two suspects are scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 02 December 2025.
