LIMPOPO — A significant breakthrough in the Mankweng businessman murder arrest investigation has been realized as law enforcement officials take a 19-year-old female suspect into custody for her alleged involvement in the conspiracy to kill 43-year-old Tebogo Mothapo.
The apprehension took place on Sunday, 30 August 2026, in Mankweng Zone One. It was the result of a rigorous, intelligence-driven operation executed by a multidisciplinary task team. This specialized unit comprised the Provincial Investigation Unit, the Provincial Tracking Team, and the Capricorn Tracing Team, who were notably assisted by Tshimollo Security and Investigations, an external law enforcement partner dedicated to crime combating.
The case stems from the tragic death of Mothapo, a local businessman who was fatally attacked and shot in the Mankweng policing area on 16 December 2025.
This latest development brings the total number of individuals arrested in connection with the fatal shooting to two. The first suspect, 27-year-old Osama Azad—a naturalized South African of Pakistani origin—was taken into custody earlier on 20 July 2026 in Ga-Mothapo Tjatjaneng.
Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, publicly welcomed the latest arrest. He commended the investigating and operational teams for their unwavering persistence and dedication to resolving the brutal murder of the 43-year-old entrepreneur.
The 19-year-old female suspect is scheduled to appear before the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court today, Monday, 31 August 2026. She is expected to face a slate of severe charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
