Woman Rescued After Kidnapping in KwaZulu-Natal, Seven Others Released

Police in KwaZulu-Natal have rescued a woman who was kidnapped from her home in the early hours of Friday morning, 15 May 2026.

The woman, believed to be in her mid to late 30s, was taken along with seven other victims from a residence at Chappies Section in the Mandeville area of Sundumbili. Unknown men carried out the kidnapping.

The seven other victims were released a short time later at KwaDabeka. However, the woman — who had recently received a payout from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) — was taken to an undisclosed location.

The Provincial Tracking Team was deployed and quickly located one of the two vehicles used in the kidnapping. Three suspects were arrested. Further investigations led officers to Phoenix, where the victim was found unharmed.

According to police, the suspects attempted several financial transactions without success, but did manage to make purchases totaling R30,000.

Authorities are appealing to Road Accident Fund beneficiaries not to disclose their payout information or boast about receiving money.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court soon. Police continue to search for additional suspects.
