On Friday, 15 May 2026, members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team were deployed in the Hanover Park Precinct as part of an operation to combat crime in the area.
Acting on information received, the team followed up and arrested a suspect. Officers confiscated the following items:

262 straws containing tik

177 mandrax tablets

44 small sachets containing tik

11 small sachets containing cocaine

10 grams of cocaine

An undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime
The suspect, a 30-year-old male, was detained at Philippi SAPS. He is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 18 May 2026.
