Police Arrest Suspect After Finding Unlicensed Firearms

Police in the Tshwane District arrested a suspect on Friday morning for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition following an intelligence-driven operation in Pretoria North.

According to police reports, members of the Pretoria North Detectives, Crime Prevention, and Soshanguve K9 Unit acted on information regarding unlicensed firearms at a residence in Pretoria North. Upon arrival, officers gained entry to the premises, where the suspect pointed out firearms and ammunition stored in different areas around the property.

Police requested the suspect to produce valid firearm licenses, but he failed to do so. He was subsequently arrested.

Seized items include one shotgun, one 9mm firearm, a shotgun component, and various rounds of ammunition, including shotgun cartridges, reloaded ammunition, and rifle cartridges.

The suspect is expected to appear soon before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
