Two Arrested for Firing Guns at Funeral in Naas

On Friday, 12 December 2025, a police operation in Naas led to the arrest of two men for discharging firearms at a funeral.

The operation, part of the Festive Season Initiative, followed Crime Intelligence reports that a group suspected of community terror would fire guns during a burial.

Police witnessed the illegal activity at the cemetery. They then apprehended a 35-year-old and a 40-year-old from separate vehicles.

The 40-year-old suspect was found with a licensed shotgun and two empty magazines. The 35-year-old suspect had an unlicensed 9mm pistol, a magazine, and 165 live rounds.

Both have been charged with the unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place. They are scheduled to appear at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 December 2025.
