In a coordinated operation on Thursday, 20 November 2025, members of the Enhlazeni District Crime Intelligence Team (CIT) arrested two men for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The operation was initiated after police received intelligence from the Border Management Authority (BMA) CIG regarding two males in possession of rifles in the Mbangwane area.
Acting on the information, police proceeded to the first identified house. Upon arrival, they conducted a search and discovered a modified shotgun, along with three live shotgun rounds, concealed in the ceiling. The suspect at the premises was immediately arrested.
The team then moved to a second house in the same Mbangwane area. There, they located and arrested a second suspect. A search of the property uncovered a rifle, wrapped in clothes and blankets and hidden inside a wardrobe. A box of ammunition was also seized from the location.

Both suspects were taken to the Mbuzini SAPS for further processing. During the investigation, the men alleged that they had purchased the firearms and ammunition from an unknown person in the Kingdom of Eswatini. However, they could not produce any valid licences for the weapons.
The suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 November 2025.
