Suspect in Court on Firearm and Stolen Property Charges, Linked to Multiple Robberies

A 46-year-old man appeared in the Jane Furse Magistrate’s Court this week on a series of serious charges, including the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspect’s case has been postponed to Friday, 28 November 2025, for a formal bail application.

His arrest on Monday, 17 November 2025, was the result of a multidisciplinary operation targeting house robbery suspects in the Jane Furse policing area. The operation involved a collaborative effort between the Mopani Tracking Team, Nebo Tracking Team, Jane Furse Tracking Team, and the Sekhukhune Flying Squad.

According to police reports, the team tactically approached an identified address in Mamone Village. Upon entering the premises, they found the suspect inside. A subsequent search of the property led to the immediate recovery of two cell phones and two plasma televisions, which were positively linked to a recent house robbery in the Maake area.

The search expanded, uncovering a wider array of items in the suspect’s possession for which he could not provide a satisfactory account. These items included a television, a fridge, a laptop, grinders, a microwave, and a sound system. This discovery led to his arrest for possession of suspected stolen property.

A further, more thorough search of the premises yielded a Star Norinco pistol, loaded with live ammunition. This find resulted in the additional charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Police have also indicated that the suspect is allegedly wanted for questioning in connection with a separate carjacking in Nebo and a house robbery in Springs.

Authorities have confirmed that police investigations into these matters are ongoing.
