Three Arrested, Drugs and Firearm Seized in Beaufort West Police Raid

A coordinated police operation in the early hours of Tuesday morning led to the significant seizure of illicit drugs, including 600 mandrax tablets and a quantity of tik, and the arrest of three men.

The operation, which took place on November 18, 2025, was initiated around 07:30 by members of the Provincial Anti-Economic Crime Task Team in conjunction with Beaufort West police. Acting on intelligence, the team conducted targeted raids at several premises on Matroos Avenue, Bantom Street, and Nerina Street.

During searches of the properties, officers discovered and confiscated a substantial cache of illegal items. The haul included 600 mandrax tablets, 19 bankies of tik, and approximately 100 grams of tik. A prohibited firearm was also found and seized.

Three men, aged 31, 38, and 41, were arrested at the scene. They face a series of charges, including possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, and the possession of a prohibited firearm.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be formally charged before the Beaufort West Magistrates’ Court in the coming days. The successful operation highlights continued efforts by law enforcement to combat the drug trade in the Central Karoo region.
