QWAQWA – A 41-year-old man from Hasethunya Village in Qwaqwa, Teboho Kubheka, was sentenced to 15 years of direct imprisonment for murder on Monday, 31 August 2026. The conviction marks the successful conclusion of a joint legal effort by the Tseki Detective Service and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
Kubheka was found guilty of fatally stabbing 43-year-old Thabiso Molitsoane. Court proceedings established that the murder was motivated by allegations that the deceased was involved in a relationship with Kubheka’s girlfriend.
The criminal case was thoroughly investigated by Detective Sergeant Sabatha Rampini of the Tseki Detective Service, whose investigative work was pivotal in securing the prosecution’s case.
Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thabang Lesia, formally welcomed the sentencing outcome. Lieutenant General Lesia commended the South African Police Service (SAPS) investigation team and the NPA for their diligent and collaborative efforts in ensuring the accused was held accountable under the law.
“The message is crystal clear: crime does not pay, and justice will prevail,” Lieutenant General Lesia stated, reinforcing the commitment of provincial law enforcement to uphold public safety and the rule of law.
