NORTHERN CAPE – Members of the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol and the Kuruman K9 Unit have arrested a male suspect for dealing in dagga following the successful interception of a suspicious courier parcel in Kuruman.
According to the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) Highway Patrol and Kuruman K9 Unit, the operation was initiated on Thursday, 27 August 2026, after authorities received actionable intelligence regarding a suspicious package being transported to a local PAXI agency in the town.
Police members immediately operationalised the information, tracking the package to the designated local business. Law enforcement maintained a strategic operational presence at the location, waiting for the intended recipient to arrive and collect the shipment.
At approximately 14:10, the male suspect entered the store and collected the parcel. He was promptly approached by the waiting police members, who requested that he open the package for inspection.
A subsequent search of the parcel revealed 2.275 kilograms of dagga, with an estimated street value of R11,350.
The suspect was immediately arrested at the scene and is now facing a formal charge of dealing in dagga. According to the JTG Highway Patrol and Kuruman K9 Unit, the suspect is expected to appear in the relevant local court soon to face the charges.
