QWAQWA — The bodies of two missing hunters, Sello Khala and Fana Nale, have been recovered from the top of Sephokong Mountain, concluding an extensive multi-disciplinary search and rescue operation in the region.
The two men were reported missing on Sunday, 9 August 2026, after embarking on a hunting expedition at Hatsoanyana Farm alongside friends. According to representatives from the Search and Rescue team, the group became separated while traversing Sephokong Mountain due to dense, misty weather conditions. While one friend successfully navigated the terrain and returned home safely, Khala and Nale failed to return.
Following formal missing persons reports filed by their distressed families, authorities immediately launched a multi-disciplinary search party. On Friday, 14 August 2026, at approximately 12:30, search teams located the body of 38-year-old Jerry Kgala, also identified as Sello Khala, deceased on the mountain.
Undeterred by the difficult and hazardous terrain, the Search and Rescue team continued their relentless operations. On Monday, 24 August 2026, team members successfully located the body of the second victim, 22-year-old Lefa Nale, also identified as Fana Nale.
Official spokespersons for the operation confirmed that both families have formally identified the deceased. Authorities have stated that post-mortem examinations will be conducted in due course to determine the exact cause of death for both men.
