GAUTENG – A 23-year-old alleged gangster is set to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, facing two counts of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms linked to the killing of two Gauteng SAPS Anti-Gang Unit members.
The suspect, described by authorities as a known gangster, was apprehended following a multi-disciplinary tracing operation that culminated in the recovery of two R5 rifles at the KwaDukathole Informal Settlement in Germiston over the past weekend.
Coordinated Multi-Agency Operation Leads to Arrest
The operation was spearheaded by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’s (DPCI) Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit, with support from Gauteng Crime Intelligence Tactical and Special Operations, the Provincial Tracking Team, the Tactical Response Team, the Anti-Gang Unit, and PRASA.
The coordinated effort led to the identification and arrest of the suspect, who allegedly participated in the murders of Constables Tlomatsana and Sibeko, both serving members of the Gauteng SAPS Anti-Gang Unit, as well as two civilian women.
Suspect Was Out on Bail With Multiple Pending Cases
According to police, the accused was out on bail at the time of his arrest. He carries several pending cases, including two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Investigations Continue as Police Pursue Remaining Suspects
The SAPS and the DPCI confirmed that investigations remain active, with officers continuing to pursue all individuals connected to the killings. Authorities stated that further arrests have not been ruled out.
In a joint statement, the SAPS and the DPCI reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks, removing illegal firearms from communities, and ensuring that perpetrators of violence against police officers and civilians are brought to justice.
