LIMPOPO — A massive manhunt is currently underway in Madodonga Village after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a relative, an attack that has sparked outrage across the province. The incident, which occurred within the Tshilwavhusiku policing area, has prompted law enforcement to mobilize all available resources to apprehend a known male suspect who remains at large.
According to police reports, the horrifying ordeal unfolded on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at approximately 19:45. The young victim had been instructed to stay the night at her grandmother’s residence in Madodonga Village because her own home was unoccupied. Following a bath, the suspect—identified as the child’s uncle—allegedly confronted her while holding a white powdered substance.
When the teenager refused his demands to undress, he reportedly threw the powder directly into her eyes. Blinded and vulnerable, the child was overpowered as the suspect forcefully removed her tracksuit pants, assaulted her, and fled the scene on foot.
The crime was officially reported to authorities the following morning on Sunday, August 9, around 11:30. The victim’s mother, who had been away attending local Women’s Day celebrations, returned home to learn of the traumatic incident from other family members and immediately alerted the police.
A formal case of rape has been docketed, and investigators are working tirelessly to track the fugitive. Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, strongly condemned the attack, noting the cruel timing of the alleged crime.
“We are appalled by this alleged act of violation, especially against a minor victim during Women’s Month,” stated Lieutenant General Scheepers. “Police are working around the clock to trace and arrest the known male suspect. We encourage anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police immediately.”
The public is urged to play a crucial role in bringing the perpetrator to justice. Anyone possessing information that could aid the ongoing investigation is asked to contact the Investigating Officer, Constable Fhumulani Muliwa, at 082 409 8500.
