KWAZULU-NATAL – Authorities in the uMsinga policing precinct have apprehended a 53-year-old suspect for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a targeted, intelligence-driven operation. The arrest underscores local law enforcement’s continued focus on intercepting illegal weapons before they can be used in criminal activities.
Acting on verified intelligence, officers converged on a specific location within the Enyonini Reserve at Keats Drift. According to the official police spokesperson, authorities intercepted the individual upon arrival and conducted an immediate search of the premises. The investigation yielded an unlicensed .253 hunting rifle with its serial number intentionally removed, alongside four live rounds of ammunition.
Following the discovery of the illicit items, the suspect was swiftly taken into custody. The police spokesperson confirmed that the individual has been formally charged with unlawful possession of both a firearm and ammunition. The accused remains in police detention and is scheduled to make an imminent appearance at the uMsinga Magistrate’s Court to answer to the allegations.
