EASTERN CAPE — Exactly 208 suspects have been taken into custody following widespread illegal immigration protests in the Eastern Cape, as authorities launched sweeping law enforcement operations to quell unrest and maintain public order.
The recent wave of demonstrations, driven by community frustrations regarding undocumented foreign nationals, prompted a massive security deployment across the region. Police and security clusters executed coordinated interventions aimed at preventing crime, neutralizing threats to public stability, and ensuring the safety of all residents. Ultimately, these strategic operations resulted in the 208 arrests.
Addressing the unfolding situation on Tuesday, Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane reassured the public that the security environment remains under control.
