Murder Investigation Underway After Woman’s Body Found in Limpopo Village

 Police in Levubu, under the Vhembe District in Limpopo, have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 48-year-old woman was discovered in the early hours of Saturday, 09 May 2026, at Hamutsha Muungamunwe village.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 06:45 following a report of a woman lying motionless on the ground. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on her back. She was wearing a brown jacket and a green and black shirt, with no clothing on the lower part of her body.

Preliminary observations indicate that a pair of white trousers had been tightly wrapped around the victim’s neck. Her underwear and tights were found near her legs. One black shoe was located next to the body; the second shoe was found a few metres away after a search of the surrounding area.

Police also observed visible injuries on the deceased, including wounds to the mouth, as well as bruises on the neck, back, and buttocks.

The identity of the suspect or suspects remains unknown, and the motive for the murder has yet to be determined.
