Two Appear in Court After Unlicensed Firearm Found in Vehicle

Two suspects appeared before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The arrests were carried out by members of the Crime Prevention Unit from the former Acornhoek Cluster and the Acornhoek Crime Prevention team during a stop-and-search operation conducted opposite the local plaza on Sunday, 03 May 2026, at approximately 19:45.

Police stopped a brown Toyota Corolla with Mpumalanga registration plates, occupied by two individuals. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm concealed near the door. The suspects were arrested immediately and charged.

The accused, aged 37 and 45, made their first court appearance on Monday, 04 May 2026. They were remanded in custody. The case has been postponed to Thursday, 07 May 2026, for further proceedings.
