Police in Gauteng have made a significant breakthrough against drug proliferation following the discovery of a suspected drug laboratory in Sandton.
According to authorities, members of the Organised Crime Unit in the province operationalized intelligence information on the morning of 12 April 2026. The operation led officers to a house located on Rembrandt Avenue in Sandton.
Upon searching the premises, the team located chemicals, manufacturing equipment, and an end product suspected to be illicit drugs. Police estimate the street value of the product found at approximately R1.5 million.
No individuals were present inside the house at the time of the search. A case of manufacturing suspected drugs has been opened for further investigation.
The police in Gauteng stated they remain committed to fighting crime and will continue to crack down on drugs and illicit manufacturing operations.
