Police Launch Manhunt for 22-Year-Old After 16-Year-Old Found Pregnant

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Phaudi, Capricorn District, has opened a statutory rape case and launched a manhunt for a 22-year-old male suspect following a report received at Lonsdale clinic on Friday, 10 April 2026.

At approximately 07:20, a nurse on duty at the clinic attended to a 16-year-old female patient who was accompanied by her grandmother. The visit was a follow-up to medical exams taken on 2 April 2026 as part of a procedure to commence family planning services. The results confirmed the teenager is pregnant.

During a subsequent consultation, the minor disclosed that she had engaged in sexual intercourse with her 22-year-old boyfriend. The matter was immediately reported to local police. A statutory rape case has been registered for further investigation.

The suspect’s identity is known to police, and a manhunt has been activated to trace and apprehend him.
