Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 25-year-old man in Umbhayi, Cottonlands. The pair, aged 31 and 27, are scheduled to make their first court appearance at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 November 2025.
The arrests follow an intensive investigation into the disappearance of Siphenathi Manqina, who was first reported missing at the Tongaat SAPS on 29 September 2025.
According to police, the breakthrough came on 21 November 2025, when members of the Tongaat Crime Prevention Unit gathered critical information pertaining to the case. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, Manqina, owed the suspects a sum of money.
It is alleged that the suspects kidnapped Manqina, tied him up, and beat him. The assault proved fatal, and upon realizing he had succumbed to his injuries, the suspects disposed of his body by concealing it in a nearby pit lavatory.
The two accused now face formal charges of murder and kidnapping.
