Police in Dennilton, under the Sekhukhune District, have initiated a manhunt for unidentified suspects following a deliberate fire at a high school in Bloempoort village.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 22 November 2025. Authorities report that they responded to a call at approximately 05:20 about a building being alight at the school.
Upon arrival, police found the science laboratory fully engulfed in flames. Community members were already on the scene, attempting to battle the blaze before firefighters arrived and successfully brought the fire under control.
Preliminary investigative findings suggest that the perpetrators gained entry by forcing open a window to the administration block. Once inside, they ransacked several offices, including that of the school principal. Police investigations are currently underway to determine if any items were stolen during the break-in.
At this time, the motive behind the arson and burglary remains unknown. No arrests have been made, and the search for the suspects continues.
