A 75-year-old female pensioner was found in a semi-conscious state after being drugged and robbed in her first-floor flat in Phoenix – KZN this morning (Friday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the call for assistance to Palmford Place in Sunford at approximately 08:42 after concerned neighbours raised the alarm.
On arrival, it was established that neighbours had attempted to contact the elderly woman without success. Fearing for her safety, they forced entry into her flat and discovered her on a sofa in the living room, unresponsive and in distress.
The flat had been ransacked, and packets of medication were found in the kitchen, though it remains unclear if they belonged to the victim or were left behind by the suspect.
An eyewitness reported seeing an unfamiliar woman exiting the block of flats yesterday afternoon, 25 September 2025, carrying two packets filled with unknown items.
The pensioner, due to her medical condition, has not yet been able to provide an account of what transpired.
