Elderly couple and employee attacked on farm
FREE STATE. – An elderly couple, the farmer (74) and his wife (78), as well as an employee (48) who lives with them in a house on the farm Heine between Frankfort and Heilbron, were attacked this morning around 03:15 and robbed.
According to Capt. Loraine Earle the couple woke up to the presence of a group of suspects in their bedroom. The couple and their employee were assaulted and tied up. The house was then ransacked.
Earle says the police are looking for six suspects who fled with household items, a shotgun and two handguns in the farmer’s Ford Ranger bakkie, which was found abandoned. The bakkie was found in a field, but the weapons are still gone.
The police are on the scene where all possible leads are being followed up. No serious injuries were reported. Cases of house robbery, theft of firearms and theft of a motor vehicle are being investigated. Anyone with information can Capt. Call Judith Swanepoel on 082 466 7746.
