FREE STATE — A 32-year-old woman is in custody following a Bothaville murder incident after she allegedly fatally stabbed her ex-boyfriend in the chest. The tragic event unfolded late Saturday night in the Kgotsong location, prompting a swift police response and an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the fatal altercation.
According to a police spokesperson, law enforcement officials received a distress call at approximately 22:10 on Saturday, 26 September 2026, regarding a male who had been stabbed. Upon arriving at the scene of the crime in Kgotsong, officers discovered a 44-year-old African man lying on the ground suffering from a severe stab wound to the chest.
Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the location. Despite their urgent interventions, the 44-year-old victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The police spokesperson revealed that the victim and the suspect were former romantic partners. It is alleged that a heated argument between the two ex-partners escalated prior to the incident, culminating in the woman allegedly stabbing the man with a knife, fatally wounding him. The exact details and underlying circumstances surrounding the dispute remain unclear at this stage and are currently the subject of an active police investigation.
