EASTERN CAPE — A female suspect arrested for possession of drugs is facing serious charges after law enforcement uncovered a significant stash of illegal substances during a weekend raid in the Eastern Cape.
On the morning of Sunday, 20 September 2026, at roughly 09:00, members of the Qonce Crime Prevention unit acted on intelligence pointing to a residence in Ginsberg, Qonce, that was allegedly being used as a drug-selling operation. Armed with a valid search warrant, officers moved in to execute the operation.
Upon arriving at the property, the team identified themselves as police officials and presented the search warrant to the suspect before commencing a thorough search of the premises.
What officers discovered inside the home painted a troubling picture of alleged drug distribution. Investigators recovered 496 full Boss Mandrax tablets, four small bags of crystal meth — commonly known locally as tik — along with an undisclosed sum of cash believed to be linked to illicit drug sales.
Following the seizure, a 34-year-old woman was taken into custody. She has been charged with dealing in and possession of Mandrax tablets, as well as dealing in and possession of tik (crystal meth).
The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance before the Qonce Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 21 September 2026, where the formal legal process will begin.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Crime Prevention units in the region to disrupt drug supply networks operating within residential communities. Police have reiterated their commitment to acting on intelligence and executing search warrants to remove dangerous substances from neighbourhoods.
