WESTERN CAPE — Eight suspects are scheduled to appear in court following a successful weekend intervention by Operation Lockdown 3, which resulted in major drug and firearm seizures across several Cape Town communities.
The targeted law enforcement initiative, confirmed by police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, spanned multiple neighborhoods, including Ravensmead, Elsies River, Bellville South, Heideveld, Lentegeur, Manenberg, and Bonteheuwel [[1]].
During these coordinated raids, authorities seized a substantial cache of narcotics and illegal weapons. The confiscated items included 197 sachets of crystal meth, 127 mandrax tablets, 28 heroin straws, five packets of heroin, and 16 sachets of cocaine. In addition to the drugs, operatives recovered a .38 Special revolver and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The eight individuals apprehended during the operation, ranging in age from 18 to 71, have been formally charged with possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
According to official statements, the suspects are set to make their first court appearances in their respective local courts on Monday, 14 September 2026, as law enforcement continues its intensified efforts to combat illicit activities in the region.
