FREE STATE – A 38-year-old man was apprehended in a Botshabelo drug bust on Monday, 24 August 2026, after law enforcement officers discovered a cache of illicit substances hidden in a residential property. The arrest underscores continued policing efforts against narcotics distribution in the Free State province.
According to a spokesperson for the Selosesha Police Operations (POP), officers acted on a credible intelligence tip-off regarding alleged drug possession at approximately 15:00. The police unit promptly deployed to a specified address in Section F, Botshabelo, to execute a search.
During the premises search, authorities discovered 36 small packets of CAT and six small packets of crystal meth concealed inside an old paraffin heater. The confiscated narcotics hold an estimated street value of R4 000.00.
The 38-year-old male suspect was taken into custody for alleged possession of dangerous drugs. A spokesperson for the Selosesha POP confirmed that the apprehended individual is expected to appear before the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court soon to face formal charges.
The investigation remains ongoing as local authorities continue to act on community intelligence to dismantle local drug networks.
