FREE STATE – A 50-year-old Zastron husband is scheduled to appear in the Zastron magistrate court on charges of rape following allegations that he sexually assaulted his 54-year-old wife at their residence in Refeng-kgotso.
According to the case details, the alleged incident occurred on Friday, 14 August 2026, at approximately 02:00. The 54-year-old victim, who practices as a Sangoma, reported that she was attending to clients at their home when her husband approached her and demanded intimacy.
When the victim refused due to her work commitments, the suspect allegedly grabbed her and forcefully escorted her to a bedroom. The victim stated that the suspect undressed them both and violated her without her consent. Following the assault, the suspect reportedly got into bed and fell asleep.
The victim decided to report the alleged incident to authorities during the morning of Friday, 18 August 2026, at 07:00.
A representative for the Smitfield Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit confirmed that a formal case of rape was subsequently opened and is currently under active investigation as the suspect prepares for his imminent court appearance.
