LIMPOPO — Law enforcement officials have initiated an urgent manhunt connected to a severe Lebowakgomo rape and house robbery case. The active investigation stems from a traumatic early-morning incident in the Thokgoaneng community, where an 18-year-old woman was violently targeted while isolated in her residence.
Providing details on the escalating crime, a local police spokesperson confirmed that the home invasion occurred at approximately 01:00 on Sunday, 2 August 2026. According to the preliminary statement released by the spokesperson, two unknown men allegedly gained unauthorized entry into the premises while the young woman was alone inside the house.
The situation quickly turned dangerous as one of the intruders was reportedly armed with a knife. Using the weapon to intimidate the victim, the suspects coerced the 18-year-old and stripped her of several personal belongings. The men fled the scene carrying stolen cash, a cellphone, and a pair of shoes.
In a devastating escalation of the violent break-in, the police spokesperson noted that one of the suspects raped the victim before both individuals escaped into the night.
As of the latest updates, the suspects remain at large and have not yet been arrested.
