# Suspect Arrested for Possession of Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition in Ga-Madisha Ditoro
**MAGATLE, South Africa** – A 49-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 29 May 2026, during a targeted operation conducted by the Capricorn District Drugs and Firearms Task Team in Ga-Madisha Ditoro village, outside Lebowakgomo.
Acting on credible intelligence, the multidisciplinary task team executed a planned operation at an identified address where the suspect was located and subsequently searched. During the search, officers recovered a Norinco 9mm pistol, two magazines, and eight (8) rounds of live ammunition. A further search of the premises yielded five additional live rifle rounds and two spent shell casings.
Preliminary police investigations established that the licence for the recovered firearm had expired. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in violation of South African firearms legislation.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Magatle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 June 2026. Police investigations remain ongoing.
