Two men, Amogelang Moleme (24) and Raphael Sitoe (39), are scheduled to reappear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 28 May 2026, following their arrest on charges of fraud and possession of suspected stolen property.
The pair was arrested on Friday, 15 May 2026, by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, supported by Klerksdorp Crime Prevention. According to police, the suspects allegedly issued a fraudulent order form to a business in Klerksdorp, posing as representatives of a broadcasting authority to purchase electrical wiring. After collecting the ordered wiring, they were intercepted and arrested. Stolen wiring valued at over R200,000 was confiscated, along with two vehicles believed to have been used in the crime.
Moleme and Sitoe made their first court appearance on Monday, 18 May 2026, and were remanded in custody until their next appearance on Monday, 25 May 2026. During the investigation, authorities linked the duo to nine additional similar fraud and theft cases reported by businesses in Klerksdorp. Their third court appearance is set for 28 May 2026.
Police have called on any business owners in the Klerksdorp area who may have been defrauded in a similar manner to contact Colonel Jacob Sebatane of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit at 071 481 2911. Alternatively, they may visit their nearest police station, call Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS App.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, commended the officers for the swift arrests and urged the public and business community to exercise extreme caution in transactions. He noted that fraudsters often pose as employees of reputable businesses or government entities using fake credentials, and that prompt reporting of suspicious activities can prevent financial losses and aid law enforcement.
