Police Arrest Man, 42, for Murder of Partner

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of murder following the fatal assault of his partner.

According to police reports, officers were called to a murder scene at the K9 Kutlwanong location on Friday, 8 May 2026. Upon arrival, they were met by a man who identified himself as a relative of the victim. He directed officers into the house, where they found the body of a woman lying face-down on the bedroom floor.

The victim, identified as Mathapelo Mosala, 46, had multiple visible bruises on her body. Emergency services personnel declared her dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Mosala was allegedly fatally assaulted with a belt. Police have confiscated the belt believed to have been used in the crime and booked it as evidence.

The suspect, age 42, was traced and arrested on the same day. He is scheduled to appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 May 2026, on a charge of murder.
