Police in Ritavi have arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with two counts of rape committed in Nkomanini village. The arrest took place on Friday, 1 May 2026.
According to the allegations, on 30 April 2026, a 14-year-old male and his 8-year-old brother were raped in their home. Preliminary investigations indicate that both victims share a room with their 18-year-old male cousin, who is the suspect in the matter.
The suspect allegedly threatened the victims not to disclose the incidents. The 14-year-old victim later informed his mother, and the incident was immediately reported to the local police.
A manhunt was launched, and the suspect was eventually apprehended on Friday, 1 May 2026, at Nkomanini village.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 4 May 2026, facing two charges of rape. Police investigations are continuing.
