On 29 March 2026, at approximately 13:30, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to a distressing scene on Christie Road following reports of a violent animal attack.
An elderly woman, in her 70s, was walking toward the Scottsville Mall when a house sitter arrived at a nearby residence, two dogs managed to escape the yard they were in. The dogs reportedly charged toward the gate as it was being accessed and successfully exited the yard, and attacked the pedestrian.
Emergency responders arrived to find the elderly victim in significant distress, having sustained serious injuries, including a severe and disfiguring bite wound to the face. Paramedics worked swiftly to stabilize the patient on-site, providing medical interventions to manage the trauma and pain before she was transported to a nearby specialist facility for urgent surgical consultation.
