Police have launched an investigation into a double murder and attempted murder case following a fatal shooting in the Katlehong locality over the weekend.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), officers were alerted to an incident at approximately 23:40 on Saturday, 14 February 2026. Upon arrival at the scene, members discovered multiple spent cartridges and projectiles inside the residence.
During a search of the premises, police found the body of a 40-year-old woman lying behind a bedroom door in a pool of blood. She had sustained gunshot wounds to her upper body.
A second victim, a 58-year-old woman, sustained a gunshot wound to her back. She was transported to a medical facility in a private vehicle but died en route.
A 16-year-old boy, identified as the grandson of the deceased women, was also shot during the incident. He sustained a serious gunshot wound to his left hand and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Authorities have stated that the motive for the shooting remains unclear at this stage. SAPS is following up on all available leads as the investigation continues.
