Off-Duty Officer Recovers Suspected Stolen Compressor

A vigilant off-duty police officer facilitated the recovery of a suspected stolen compressor at a local mechanic workshop on Saturday afternoon.

According to police reports, the 34-year-old officer was at a mechanic workshop on John Daka Street in Galeshewe at approximately 14:40 on 14 February 2026, attending to repairs on his private vehicle.

While on the premises, the officer observed four unidentified males arriving at the workshop. The group allegedly attempted to sell a compressor to the mechanic.

The officer tactically approached the group, feigning interest in purchasing the item. This strategy allowed him to safely secure the compressor without incident. The four suspects became suspicious and fled the scene immediately.

Following the incident, a case of possession of suspected stolen property was registered with the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information regarding the suspects to contact their local crime stop number.
