Two Arrested, Firearm Seized Following Spaza Shop Robbery

Police have arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm with ammunition following a business robbery at a spaza shop in Valencia, Addo, on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 08:30. It is alleged that two men entered the shop, held the owner at gunpoint, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, two cellphones, and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

Police responded promptly to a complaint of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival at the scene, officers followed up on information regarding the direction in which the suspects had fled.

Within two hours, at about 10:00, police located the suspects’ hideout in a nearby bushy area. Two men, aged 22 and 35, were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They were subsequently positively linked to the Valencia spaza shop robbery.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
