Two men have been arrested for murder after North West police officers on patrol swiftly responded to a reported altercation on Saturday morning.
According to police reports, members of the Mahikeng Public Order Police (POP) were patrolling the Mosiane View area on the morning of Saturday, 07 February 2026, when they received information about a fight in progress. The officers immediately proceeded to the intersection of Kubu and Mosese Streets.
There, they encountered a group of males sitting under a tree. A subsequent investigation at a nearby shack revealed blood on the floor, leading to the discovery of a body.
The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Kgotso Mogale Rasebitsi. He was found lying inside the shack with multiple stab wounds. Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel declared him dead at the scene.
Through extensive investigations at the scene, police linked the two men who had been sitting under the tree to the murder. Both suspects, aged 25 and 34, were placed under arrest.
The North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, commended the police for their diligent work. The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Mahikeng Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 09 February 2026, facing a charge of murder.
