A 32-year-old Malawian national is scheduled to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 February 2026, facing a charge of rape.
The arrest by Seshego police follows an incident reported to have occurred in the early hours of Friday, 06 February 2026, at a residence in Seshego Zone 5E, Limpopo.
According to the reported information, a 30-year-old woman from Apel in the Sekhukhune District had accompanied a friend on Thursday, 05 February 2026, to visit the friend’s boyfriend at his rented room in the aforementioned zone.
In the early hours of the following day, at approximately 03:00, the couple allegedly engaged in a heated argument. It is further alleged that the suspect assaulted his girlfriend and chased her from the room before locking the door.
The suspect then allegedly threatened and strangled the 30-year-old visitor before raping her. He subsequently chased her from the premises.
Both women reported the incident to the Seshego Police Station, where a case of rape was officially opened. The suspect was swiftly arrested.
The case has been assigned to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for investigation, which continues.
