Former Soldier, Parolee Charged with Murder

A 66-year-old male, a former soldier and parolee, will appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 February 2026, on a murder charge. He is accused of running over and killing his 56-year-old girlfriend with a vehicle during an argument in Seshego Zone 3 on Thursday, 05 February 2026.

After the incident, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended following a coordinated operation by the Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigations Unit, and Tshimollo Security and Investigation. A Tshimollo member located the suspect hiding at a nearby house and alerted police, who made the arrest. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Police investigations confirm the suspect is a parolee, released in 2022 after serving part of a life sentence. He was originally convicted by the Polokwane High Court in 2002 for fatally shooting three women, including a former girlfriend, in Westenburg.

At the time of the alleged murder, the suspect was living with the deceased at her parental home in Seshego Zone 3.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe stated that the alleged involvement of a parolee in another violent crime is deeply troubling. She emphasized that parolees must comply strictly with release conditions and that any legal violations will be dealt with decisively.

Police investigations are ongoing.
