Four Arrested in Connection with West Rand Cash-in-Transit Heist

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the arrest of four suspects linked to a cash-in-transit robbery that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, 04 February 2026.

The heist took place at approximately 16:40 along the R28 road next to extension 11 in Mohlakeng, West Rand. Following intelligence reports, police conducted a tactical operation later the same day in the Kagiso area of the West Rand, leading to the arrests.

Authorities recovered significant evidence during the operation, including two vehicles—a Mercedes Benz and a Toyota C-HR—as well as two rifles, two magazines, and ammunition. Additional items were also seized.

SAPS highlighted that the successful arrests were the result of a multi-unit collaboration involving Crime Intelligence, the CIT Team, the West Rand Tactical Response Team (TRT), Police Emergency Services (PES) Flexi, and the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Specialized Services.

All four suspects are scheduled to make their first court appearance at the Randfontein Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 06 February 2026.
