A 23-year-old man will appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 February 2026, charged with murder.
The charge relates to the death of a 78-year-old man in Vaalkop, Mashashane, on Sunday, 01 February 2026.
Police report that at approximately 09:30 that day, the suspect caused a disturbance at the victim’s home. When the elderly man reprimanded him, the suspect allegedly assaulted him and damaged house windows.
The victim was taken to hospital, where he later died. SAPS Mashashane opened a murder case.
The suspect sought hospital treatment on 02 February 2026 and was released. Police later arrested him at his residence.
The motive is unknown; domestic violence is being considered. Investigations continue.
