Two Arrested for Drug Dealing

On Tuesday, 3 February 2026, police from the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit, assisted by private security, arrested two men, aged 34 and 37, in Newcastle for dealing in drugs.

The operation began after police received information about a suspect who had collected drugs in Gauteng and was returning to Newcastle. The team monitored and then arrested the 37-year-old man in the Newcastle Central Business District. A search of his residence uncovered crystal meth. The suspect was out on bail for a prior drug-related matter.

Later the same day, police were alerted to a second suspect preparing to leave his home with drugs. Officers stopped the 34-year-old man at his home. A search of his vehicle revealed crystal meth and an undisclosed sum of money.

Both suspects have been charged with dealing in drugs. They are scheduled to appear in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.
